try system restore

or do this steps If your Windows 7 still says “not genuine” and has a black desktop
1. google or torrent-search for “RemoveWAT”.
2. download said file
3. run said file
4. reboot
5. your desktop is still black, chose another background by rightclicking on desktop

Thanks in advance for all the help you have provided.
Purchased laptop off craigslist in Dec 09 had what i thought was a genuine copy of windows 7 installed. I checked and it showed activated before purchase.
On 2/26/10 update installed the (KB971033) system restarted and wow I have counterfeit software. I have a desktop that i installed windows 7 on no problem but i have the actual disk with Activation code.
So i followed your directions and uninstalled the update without problems. After restart Windows still starts with need to activate screen Is there any solution to this?
Thanks,
Keith
